Andrey Gurov: Economist, Educator, and Deputy Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank

Dr. Andrey Gurov is a Bulgarian economist, educator, and public official whose career spans academia, parliament, and central banking. Born in Gotse Delchev, he studied economics at Truman State University in Missouri and later earned a doctorate in Vienna, Austria, combining international academic training with hands-on banking experience.

Academic and Public Career

Since 2009, Gurov has taught economics and finance at the American University in Bulgaria, and has also lectured in Austria. He served as a member of the Bulgarian National Assembly across three parliamentary terms, including as chairman of a parliamentary group, before being elected Deputy Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank in 2023, where he heads the Issue Department.
